Celebrating Digital Creativity in Cheshire East Libraries
To celebrate digital creativity in Crewe, Crewe Library held Lego Stop-Motion Workshops in association with Mako Education on Monday 19th February. The workshops were a perfect activity to get young people to discover and show off their creative talents. During the workshops children learned how to bring Lego characters to life and create their very own short films worthy of an Oscar.
Participants discovered the process of planning, building, shooting, editing and publishing stop motion movies, which were then uploaded to YouTube to be enjoyed and shared with friends.
Although all equipment and materials for the session were provided on the day, participants were encouraged to bring their favourite Lego pieces to feature in the movie! They were also rewarded at the end of the workshop with a Lego keyring as a memento of the day.
The workshops were part of a larger initiative to bring further digital and maker activities such as Minecraft, Micro:bits, VR and coding to library users to enable wider creativity and learning experiences. For more events check out Crewe Libraries Facebook or Cheshire East Libraries Twitter.
