COSMOS by Abandon Normal Devices commissioned by SHIFT
Commissioned by SHIFT (Cheshire East Council) this stratospheric new collaborative work of art and science in this 50th anniversary year of the Lunar Landings, staged at Jodrell Bank. The observatory has teamed up with arts and digital culture agency AND Abandon Normal Devices and researchers at Manchester University to work with award-winning digital artist Julia Freeman, who experiments in transforming complex processes and data sets into sound compositions, objects and animations. The result is ‘COSMOS’: a programme of installations based on findings from Jodrell Bank’s Lovell Telescope, exploring such themes as the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, galaxy evolution, and cosmology and dark energy. Test out exciting interactive exhibits such as a VR experience of the Lovell Telescope, focusing on live Jodrell Bank data. See the world premiere at bluedot and look out for news of other venues in the county that will be hosting this fantastic artwork this year.
